Hi, I have been playing Acoustic/Electric guitar for about 3 months and im fairly decent. Only problem is i only read tablature and i was wondering if it would good to learn the basic guitar chords since im trying to write a song on acoustic guitar. Also, if i should learn them, what are the chords.

Thanks:)

You definitely need to learn the chords, especially if you’re playing acoustic. This site has free lessons on the nine basic guitar chords. There’s also a chord chart you should download out print.

You should absolutely learn to play chords. You will never be a guitar player without knowing how to play them. I can’t tell you all the chords, there are hundreds of them. Here is a link to some basic chords: http://www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.php
You should start with all the major, minor and seventh chords. Concentrate on A, B, C, D, E, F, G and worry about the #’s later.
