major, minor, 6th, 7th, major 7th and 9th

Some variations are shown for a few chords. The video is a simple reference compilation of mainly root chords, with some barréd chords here and there.

@willowsfolkclub My guess is that the D major chord on the top 5 strings is the normally accepted one, and that when a D/F# is specified, it’s to emphasise that that bass F# note should be stressed – in the same way that a G/B chord notation specifies that the the bass B note of the chord is required. :-)

I’ve often seen the D major chord with the thumb fretting the 2nd fret of the 6th string written as D/F#, although why this should be I’m not sure given that the note should be part of the chord – both the top and bottom E strings are being fretted on the same fret! :)

Excellent reference, and even though I’ve been playing guitar now for 14 years, there were some shapes in there that I either didn’t know, or didn’t know the name for. If only YouTube had been around when I started playing!! )
