I initially just learned guitar by looking at chord-diagrams and figuring out rhythms. I’d really like to figure out how to compose melodies though, ad I know eventually I should learn all the diatonic modes and the blues scale, major scale, major and minor pentatonic, but like if someone could list all the modes and scales in the order I should learn them in, I’d appreciate it. I know first I should learn the major scale, but that’s all I’m sure about. So like which order should I learn the modes and everything? I know there isn’t any real order to it, but in your opinion like which would be the easiest way to go about it, like let’s say one mode is very similar to another one you’d put those two next to each other on the list because it would be easy to learn one while i’ve already learned a similar one. Thanks!
Hi,
Pentatonic scales are usually the starting point to scales for a guitar player. They are consist of the most dominant notes of a scale and they are just five notes. Easy to learn, easy to play, sound great etc..
After this you can go with blues, major and minor scales. Once you learn the pentatonic scales just with shifting or adding one or two notes you can reach many other scales.
