In principle, yes.

In principle, yes.

Give it a go. My online course might be a solution if you find that free online bass lessons are too random (mine are step-by-step).

In short, solid …
In short, solid body is solid (without any cavities)
hollow body has clearly defined thin top, back and sides, generally with more air on the inside than the amount of wood, and
semi-solid (or semi-hollow) has some usually non-visible cavities.

I hope this helps.

P.S. If you meant “what’s the difference in SOUND” I suggest you try it out for yourself or get a demo.

If you are willing …
If you are willing to hear your bass at very low volume for a while you will not need an amp, speaker, cable etc. to start learning bass.

If you start without any amplification, you will get a good, strong sound naturally out of your bass.

So your question is not stupid after all. It is good to practice bass without an amp – I do this often.

Kind regards,
George

I cannot “see” your …
I cannot “see” your particular situation. However, I can say from experience that drummers often make good bass players. There are lots of rhythm connections between the two.

Two possible causes …
Two possible causes:
1. You are fretting incorrectly. Check my You Tube Beginner Video 3 for advice.
2. Your bass neck is convex and requires adjustment.

And … make sure your strings are tuned to correct pitch. If they are too flat, both of the above will occur.

I hope this helps.

I have a question, whenever i play my bass, it gets this weird vibrating noise that it shouldn’t be having, i don’t know if its the position of my fingers thats doing this or it could just be my bass in general. help?

I currently play drums but would love to play bass. I tried learning to play guitar a few years ago but found it difficult for me. Do u think I would have better luck with bass than I did with guitar?

I picked up a previously enjoyed instrument and amp just yesterday, I’ve got you on my iPod and I’m starting at square one. (you should have seen my kids when I walked in with an electric guitar. Daddy, what are YOU doing????)

Thank you for being so generous with your time in making videos for newbies!
