I am going to do a whole series of video lessons for Spring, which will be free and built around this idea. This was a quick post last night, which has been met with some pretty hard critique off Youtube. I guess I hit a raw nerve. People don’t want to be reminded of how much ground they need to cover. I still practice basic chord solos every day. Its nice to see another teacher that thinks it is important.

I have to make that fight every day. I have gotten several replies off Youtube to the effect that this is a useless exercise, but I have found that most players can’t do this, but want to somehow learn to improvise on more complex themes. If they can’t do this, Scrapple From the Apple is a long way off.
