i don’t understand. i have the notes for the chords, but i don’t understand what the strumming pattern for any song should be. help please!
the strumming should be easier if you have a plectrum. basically, you can do downstrokes and upstrokes, and any strumming pattern will probably be a combination of the two. start just by strumming along to the beat really simply, then get more inventive as you become more confident, don’t try to match the songs straight away. also, when you watch someone play guitar, try to imitate what their hands are doing. (that’s basically how i learnt to play!)
also, pick simple songs to learn first. you might find tutorials for a lot of songs posted on youtube, which could help. look for acoustic versions of songs here too, and try to work out what the guitarist is doing. once you’ve worked out a strumming pattern, start off playing it really slowly to make sure you get it accurate.

If you’ve got the chords for a song you like, listen to it and try to strum along.
