For a beginner, …
For a beginner, looking at instruments that may not be immediately obvious is a great idea… Fender, gibson and co really dont excell at beginner instruments, you really can be loaded with a real piece of crap…

Yamaha give a lot for the money and maybe even try some of the lower mid range ibanez…. Beware the cheap wammy bar in general though… tremeloed guitars at entry level will seldom be any use and defo wont keep tune when you use it.
Good luck!

screwbushcomegetme November 15, 2010 at 8:25 am

yes best suggestion …
yes best suggestion get a piece of crap and learn basics if your serious enough and continue and find yourself playing every day go out and buy a 500-1000 dollar one or the best you can afford; If you wait a little while your ears will get accustomed to hearing tones better then you will probably be able to identify the better sounding guitars/ or even better do like i did and get a guitar teacher to help you go pick one out. If you got time to play you will choose a guitar over a woman!

if it’s your first …
if it’s your first guitar and it’s you want an electric, I would say a Fender or Squire Stratocaster if you can’t afford the Fender. They’re pretty light and have a bunch of tones you can mess around with. Not to mention they have whammy bars. everyone loves a good whammy bar. lol

probably trying to …
probably trying to make that crappy hole-mounted pickup sound better. Why not just a use decent little pencil condenser placed within a couple feet of the sound hole and 12th fret? Her voice is obviously mic’d. Why can’t the guitar be properly mic’d as well? Or if you’re producing a “pro-level” teaching video, why not have a guitar with a built in mic, like a Taylor w/a Fishman pickup & mic combo, all mounted inside the body? Much simpler with far better results.

ventiti November 15, 2010 at 8:25 am

it isn’t actually a …
it isn’t actually a mistake :D … she doesn’t have to worry about the strumming, it comes naturally :) they are not mechanical processes, that’s why she has to think first :)

Amazing lesson for me, a beginner :) thankz

TatorTot1234 November 15, 2010 at 8:25 am

Its not the reverb, just the tone is a bit not right for my ears. But its not a vid on how to make a guitar sound good, so its fine ;)

Too much reverb!!!!!!!!!

wachman November 15, 2010 at 8:25 am

i think it might be …
i think it might be so with at least classical guitar, but when playing rock, blues, and many other genres of guitar based music, reaching over the neck w/the thumb is actually REQUIRED for proper string bending. besides i see almost all of the legends play this way and they seem to be doing just fine.

wachman November 15, 2010 at 8:25 am

probably one of …
probably one of those pain-in-the-ass capo’s
