I was just wondering, I havn’t played any musical instruments for a long time and I’m always interested in bass in songs, would you say its a hard instrument to learn and pick up? Is it too late to start learning if I’m 15?
No, it’s not that hard to learn, but it depends how good you want to get. It’s quite easy if you don’t want to do anything like scales and stuff and you just use tabs, but if you want to really learn it and read musical notation and get good at the fingering and stuff like that then it’s a bit hard, but you pick it up eventually. ![]()

no it’s not to late, i started when i was 14 and learned pretty quick. about 2 months. i started a band soon after that. after learning bass u’ll also be able to play guitar decent. cause all the chords on the bass are power chords on guitar. & no it’s not that hard if u really wanna learn like i did u will learn really quick.

Physically, it’s not a difficult instrument to play simply (as someone else said, it depends on how good you want to be). But, the difficulty comes in choosing the right notes, creating a good bass line, supporting the melody, chords and fitting in the the drums. It can also be quite difficult to get a good consistent sound where all the notes are the same volume and the same tone (unless you want them to be different).

To learn how to play, not hard. To be good at, hard. 15′s not too late, that’s how old I was when I started and I turned out ok. Wasn’t until I was 18 or 19 that I could play some hard stuff but the wait paid off.

I’m a bass player
It’s never too late! Just start by listening to the bass in songs and selecting songs that sound easy and then tabs are available on http://www.ultimate-guitar.com and http://www.911tabs.com. If you feel like something groovy try Queen – Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It has an awesome walking bass.
Bass is probably the easiest instrument I can play but it helps in you begin with a six string guitar I’d say as the skills from that transfer to bass and you learn two instruments in the process.

you will find it really easy, trust me!

Like anything else in life, it’s easy to do badly and more difficult to do it well. It’s never too late to learn anything and fifteen certainly isn’t too old. Put a bit of effort in and good luck to you.

I started learning when I was 14, and it’s great!
I don’t think you will find it hard to pick up.
Frets and tab music definitely make it much easier and I think you should at least have a try before deciding it will be too hard.
All the best!

Help me anyone?

It doesn’t matter what age you are when you play. The level of difficulty really depends on how fast you learn, what kind of experience you have with music, what you’re trying to learn to play, etc.

The hardest thing (at least for me) was learning the bass clef. If your coming over from Treble like I did, it’ll give you a lot of headaches. I say that cuz you mentioned that you did play an instrument at some point. Other than that, I didn’t think it was too hard to pick up. Just remember to have fun with it.
