I want to learn the bass guitar. Should I learn the guitar first and the bass or just start out with the bass.
bass uses less strings (assuming you mean the four stringed bass) and it was easier for me to play than guitar.
i think bass is better off learning first

I did both at the same time when I was a kid. They are very different. The notes correspond, but the techniques are vastly different.

Yes and no;
No, if you learn guitar before bass, and after that, you probably feel limited by the bass guitar, because of the differences between the two instruments. That will make you stick to the guitar and you’ll have the bass as a side instrument
Yes, if you learn guitar first, you will be able to play both of the instruments. And that’s useful, of course. In case a band searches a guitarist or bassist (that’s way harder to find, btw) you have more chance to get in a band.
So it’s your own choice, eventually.

The transition from guitar to bass is much easier than from bass to guitar. Just do whatever you think you would have more fun doing, and good luck
