For starting I would advise software like
Audacity or Reaper, this is very basic, (Audacity is free to download just google it)
if you want to go a little more proffesional use Cubase, or Ableton Live.
if ur stuck with how to operate the software just google " Cubase tutorial"
or "Ableton tutorial" you get my point =)
Good luck!

If you are just starting out I recommend just a microphone and goldwave free. You don’t need anymore, when my band started out, we used that, and it is great when you get everything right.
Cons are you may have a little feedback.
If you don’t have any problems with money use musicians friends, and look up recording/audio tab, they have reviews that you can check out.
