When reading tabs or chords on acoustic guitar how do you know what the strum pattern is for a song?

i don’t know how to find the strum pattern for a song can somebody tell me.

Just listen to the song and get the feel for it and you’ll get it
it’ll be better for you that way, you’ll build up your own rhythm and style

Some websites have them figured out for you, but sometimes you just have to listen to the song and test patterns till you find the right one.

This is the one BIG disadvantage of tab. I can’t properly read music so I depend on tab and chords a lot, but it’s a pain because there’s no way to really notate strum patterns all that well in tab.

You’re best bet is to just listen to the song a lot and pay attention only to the strum pattern, since you don’t need to worry about the chords. Try to tap the dominant beats as you listen.

If you don’t own the song, there are lots of places to listen to music for free on the internet. Just search "listen free (song name)" and you should find lots of options.
